Trace Evidence 02

about

'Trace Evidence' was presented as a sound installation across the whole site of Dawe's Twine Works in West Coker, UK, a part-renovated Victorian twine producing factory.
A number of headphone listening points were positioned at various points around the main building and along the 'ropewalk' to chart the process of twine-making from a bygone age.

The sound elements are mainly generated from retracing grooves worn into the hard materials of the works, such as metal nails, glass rods, wooden blocks and steel baths. The sounds of each groove were collected and combined to create one long journey between the points.

'Trace Evidence' is the result of a commission by OSR Projects and is also available as part of an edition of 10 lathe cut 12" vinyl from OSR Projects directly.
